Linux runtime - not seeing other dongles on the network

I installed the environment runtime on a centos 6.7 machine and I am able to see the network dongles that I have locally. But I can't see other dongles on the network and other machines can't see the network dongles on the Linux machine. Any ideas what could be causing this? I've disabled firewalls and still no improvement.

Thanks for your query.

It seems that the local HL key is visible in the Admin Control Center.

Please follow the given instructions in order to see all the HL keys available in the network and share the results:


1. Open the Admin Control Center and go to 'Configuration' page ( http://localhost:1947/_int_/config.html )

2. Go to the 'Access to Remote License Managers' tab, CHECK the below mentioned options and click SUBMIT.

Allow Access to Remote Licenses
Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses

Note: You may experience a delay of a few minutes before your changes take effect.

Kindly Reopen the Admin Control Center ( http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html ) after a few minutes and all the Sentinel HL keys in the network should start getting visible.


The same settings need to be applied on other machine to see the HL keys available in the network from that machine.

Errors with Sentinel HL SuperPro and Windows 2012

Hi,

We face serious unpredictable errors about our environment since we pass to Windows 2012 R2 as our standard operating system.

The Key doesn't look like present at all. Error code is SP_UNIT_NOT_FOUND

The point is always the same : We need to retry many times (our loop stop is now 50 and we retry every half second). When we start the verification, it may take several tries to finally get the key.

The newer problem is we are not able to restart our service (loop 51 times). The last windows update runs during the night. We decide to remove it.

The KB's removed are (and I suspect it is really only about 3 of them that matter).

It finally work after removal.

The difference in behavior between 2012 and our previous environment is that the key seems sleeping between verification (we verify every 5 mins or when a user login).

Why we have this problem on Windows 2012 R2 and behavior?

We run windows 2012 R2 over VMware ESXi 5.5.0, 2403361 on a HP DL380 Gen8 (Intel Xeon E5-2620 @ 2.00 GHz) computer.

It appears that the issue may have occurred due to VMware ESXi. Kindly share the following details in order to check and confirm.

 
Does the issue appear on physical machine or only on VM machine?
 
Check and share if this Superpro key works fine on another machine.
 
Try to disable the Antivirus (if installed on the machine), check again and share the results.
 
Issue appears on Single machine or Multiple machines ?

Uanble to connect to Business Studio Server. ... Error Code: 7401.

Hello everyone. I hope someone here can help me with this.
We are moving our Vendor Suite (V. 5.12) to another server.
We've transferred the SRMServer database to the new server and we've installed the Vendor Suite.
After the log in I got the error message "Uanble to connect to Business Studio Server. ... Error Code: 7401.".
What we should do now?

1- Take a backup of your Hasp SRM database.
2- Run the attached script in SRM database and restart the services of Business Studio Server.
3- Try to replicate same issue and share your findings with me.

CodeCover Encryption and AutoCAD

We are trying to use CodeCover runtime encryption to protect an AutoCAD ARX DLL project, but it causes AutoCAD to reject the DLL claiming it is 'incompatible with this version of AutoCAD'.

Building the project as a BRX DLL for BricsCAD has no problem with CodeCover.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Anyway make it work?

how to extend license duration

Hello I just burned a 60 days license on a sentinel HL key. May I know how to extend this time remotely when I need to? I mean I read I have to create V2C file but do I have to create another entitlement for this? Can I not just update the entitlement I already have in my ems?

Hi,

 

Yes, your understanding is correct. An update V2C needs to be generated for extending the time period in the license

.

Please use the below steps for updating the license period:-

 

             Open the Sentinel EMS from Vendor Suite.

             Go to "Catalog Tab" and create a “Modification product” of the “Base Product”.

             Go to the “Product Features” tab and select the “Overwrite” option of the feature you wish to extend.

             Choose the “License Type” in “License terms” as per the requirement and save the modification product.

             Go to the “Entitlements tab” and select the "Protection Key Update".

             Locate the key using the Check-in Key or Check-in C2V option.

             If you had chosen the License Term as “Specify at entitlements time” then select the option to “Configure” at entitlement time.

             Proceed to “Produce” the license update.

After successful completion of key update a record will appear in your entitlement screen as showing in attached. However, this will not pop-up on your screen.

Hi Gaurav,

Holidays add a little delay to my investigation but I did some new test.

Here are conclusion or test result:

We create a new windows application on MSVC++ 2012 (VC11).
We use it as a stand alone application.
We start the application on the same machine (VM based) as previous.
The application Work.
We stopped it.
We start the application again and fail.
We wait.............
We start the application again and work.

While our application is running, we decide to run the SAM1.3.1 diagnostic tools.
- All green except for the last test (Sentinel Key Communication)

We start another instance of our Application.
- Failed to work even if the other instance is still working.

Conclusion are:
- Only one application can read the key. The application is holding something that prevent any other process to read it.
- It is NOT dependent of the running context (Run as Admin doesn't change the behavior)

If we call RNBOsproReleaseLicense, a second application can run in parallel. But we do not know (or understand what will be the affected on any other attempts to read/write into the key with the same "initialization". Do we need, after RNBOsproReleaseLicense, to recall RNBOsproFormatPacket and RNBOsproInitialize or the "environment" is preserved and we can just access the key again (and RNBOsproReleaseLicense after reading)?

Hi Olivier,

I hope you had good holidays, the behavior that you are reporting now, seems more standard to me.

The superpro librarie do have some restriction when authenticating to a 1 user dongle connected to a Windows server.

This is mainly because of the "Remote Desktop Services" role is usually installed by default on Windows 2012 server.
As a result your direct communication with our Sentinel Drivers is disabled, and you are forced to establish a network communication with our Sentinel Protection Server.

This restricts the usage of 1 instance of your application (for 120 seconds) before your network license handle times-out (you lose connection with the dongle), and you can then open another instance of the application.

Note that this is happening as your application is not maintaining / renewing your network license handle, and it dies out.

The RNBOsproReleaseLicense, returns the network license handle to the "Sentinel Protection Server" before it times out, so that you can run another instance of your application.


Here are some workaround:

a) If you could uninstall the "Remote Desktop Services" role, and you should regain access to direct driver communication.

b) Else, you could disable the RDS verification in the superpro libraries. To achieve that call the following SuperPro API sequence:
