How to Transfer Sentinal SL License from Old Server to New Server.

Dear Fellow,

I am in a requirement of transferring existing Sentinel SL License from Old server hardware to New Server Hardware. Kindly help me to do this. I am a newbie with sentinel. thank you.

Thanks for your query.
 
Please note that the Sentinel SL license which you are trying to transfer should be a rehostable license.
 
To check if the SL license is rehostable, please open the Admin Control Center ( http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html ), click on Sentinel Keys page and the rehostable license information should be available under 'Key Type' of SL key.
 
Note: SL key with key type "HASP SL Legacy" cannot be rehosted/transferred.
 
Kindly follow the below mentioned steps in order to transfer a license to different machine:
 
1.At the recipient machine, launch the Remote Update System (RUS) tool.
2.Go to the "Transfer License" tab.
3.At the option labelled "Step 1", browse to the location where you want to save the recipient information and type in the file name (.id file).
4.Click on "Collect and Save information" button and copy the created file to Source machine.
5.Now At the source machine, launch the RUS tool.
6.Go to the "Transfer License" tab.
7.At the option labelled as "Step 2", select the SL license to be rehosted.
8.Read the "Recipient information file" (.id file) created earlier on recipient machine.
9.Generate the license transfer file (h2h file).
10.Now at the recipient machine, apply the license transfer file using "Apply License file" tab.

Hi Gaurav,

Thanks for the reply and yes the situation was becoming strange since we where unable to update the licence dongle while the system was running (the lock effect via the Sentinel Server Service ) and once the apps updating the dongle was close the server was not reading the key right after (lock effect again).

The approach on our end was to use the direct access to the Serial Dongle (since Borland C++ Builder 5.0). The default behavior (long time ago, I agree) was the direct access. The Hardware change, the system change, the drivers change but not our code!

Now we decide to continue with RNBO_STANDALONE and SP_TERM_SERV_CHECK_OFF. Everything is back to normal. No more cross reading between servers dongles nor Lock Effect.

Doesn't working after change ssd hard disk

I have been changed my hard disk  and clone the old system to new harddisk.
i searched many information that told me need checking  in c2v file.

but i dont have this  program to do this process.
Could you plz help me resolve  this issue ?

Hi Anubhav,

I am well and hope you are too.

We don't have any errors as such. CodeCover is seemingly correctly applied to our ARX DLL without any issues. It is just that when we try to 'Load Application' from within AutoCAD, we get the 'incompatible with this version of AutoCAD' message.

The people at AutoDesk tell me that AutoCAD simply uses LoadLibrary to load an ARX DLL, and then tries to call two functions: acrxEntryPoint and acrxGetApiVersion. The version function is implemented in a static library that comes with the ARX SDK and is linked into an ARX project.

From the error message, we can surmise that it is likely to be the version function that somehow fails.

We are using CodeCover v2.6.2.2 (and generally, the SuperPro 7.1 Toolkit), and we have tried all the options that are presented to us.

We have explored some alternatives if we can't get this protection to function 'out-of-the-box', but if would be much more straightforward if it would simply work.

I am trying to uninstall and remove Sentinel Runtime Drivers

I want to update my computer to Windows 8.1 then Windows 10.
It says I must Uninstall Sentinel Runtime Drivers.
I do not have a program that was using the Sentinel Hardware Lock anymore.
I just want to now remove the Sentinel Runtime Drivers.

Please Help.

As mentioned, if the Sentinel Runtime Drivers are not required then it can be uninstalled using “Add Remove Programs” in “Control panel”.

Getting a 20 4 1988 0 error at install time of HASP net ("Files currently in use")

Hi. We are getting a 20 4 1988 0  error at install time of HASP net ("Files currently in use and cannot be replaced") thus terminating install in an incomplete state. We are lunching the installer from our own installer.

The problem is that it happens only sometimes and only on some specific workstations. It's understandable not being able to replace live files, but would expect to do so at restart time (prompt for restart). There is no prompt for restart.


We are installing Licence Manager  15.0 Build 36539

Modules:

Run-time Installer     6.60 
Run-time Package     6.60

Problem with releasing module licenses on network dongle

Hi 

We have a problem where module licences are not being released when our application loses it's connection with the network dongle.

We have a custom setup where we store, in a dongle feature, the number of users allowed and number of currently available licences per module in the application.  If the users PC loses connection to the network then the licence that is recorded, in the dongle feature, as taken for that module by that user is never updated again as being released.  We need a way to link the PC/heartbeat to the module licences that have been taken so that if the heartbeat dies without the module licences being released they can be reset after some time out.

Do you have any suggestions for how we can achieve this?

Hi Jean,

 

It is recommended to install drivers after uninstalling the previous installed drivers.

 

Hence, kindly embed your application to perform complete uninstall and then perform installation.

 

Kindly use the below commands in the path “C:\Program Files (x86)\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LDK\Redistribute\Runtime Environment\cmd Install” .

i-                    for uninstallation: cmd> haspdinst –purge

ii-                   for installation : cmd> haspdinst -i

 

Kindly use the below link to download the latest sentinel drivers for installation as the driver version being used is old:

Please share the behaviour after trying this.

Deadlock in sentinel ldk api and envelope

Hello

I have 3 HL dongles with 3 different vendors code (named for the explain E, D1 and D2 ).
I compile an Win64 executable with it linked with static lib of dongle E
This executable also enveloped with E dongle code and it's work

I build also 2 DLL (Win64) : One with D1 static lib and envelope and the second with D2 static lib and envelope.

If the exe load the first DLL (D1) and the key D1 is connected, -> OK
If the exe load the first DLL (D1) and the key D1 is not connected (LoadLibrary fail), I try to load the second DLL (D2), -> OK

The deadlock :
If the exe load the first DLL (D1).
the key D1 is connected (LoadLibrary is OK)
I read some data in dongle D1 memory (version number).
If the version number is not correct, I free the DLL D1 and I try to load the second DLL.

The problem is when i quit the exe, all thread stop in WaitForSingleObject() and the exe is in deadlock.
If I keep library open, there is no problem but I don't want to do this So I think there is another bug in TLS on library code.

Also : if you make a hasp_login() and you free library without hasp_logout(), you go on deadock too.

Any idea ?
